Incense of the Celts

These Hand Blended Incenses are sold in a grip seal bag in quantities from 25 grams for personal use, up to a large 1000 gram (1kg) bag for group or coven use. 

These Incenses have been composed in honour of the Celtic Gods and Goddesses. They are suitable for use when invoking their qualities and help.

Arianhod Incense

Arianhod is the Welsh Goddess of the stars (The Corona Borealis was named for her). Arianhod is one of the children of Don many of whom gave their names to constellations (ie. Cassiopeia - Llys Don; The Milky Way - Caer Gwydion) Arianhod and the other children of Don can be called upon to aid in retrieval of past life memories as well as in communing with and absorbing the spiritual radiance of star spirits.

Celtic Goddess of fertility and plenty. She is the patroness and protector of mothers. If you call upon Her for help in the protection of your children, She will respond like the warrior Goddess She is. Brigit is also associated with learning, apprenticeship and culture.

Incense of Cerridwen

Welsh Goddess of the Moon and Harvest. Patroness of poets. Cerridwen prepares a magickal brew in a cauldron and stews it throughout the year. This brew would yield three precious drops. These would bestow on the blessed receiver the wisdom of the past, the knowledge of the present and the secrets of the future.

Irish-Celtic god of the earth and treaties, and ruler over life and death. Dagda, or The Dagda, ("the good god") is one of the most prominent gods and the leader of the Tuatha Dé Danann. He is a master of magic, a fearsome warrior and a skilled artisan. Dagda is a son of the goddess Danu, and father of the goddess Brigid and the god Aengus mac Oc. The Morrigan is his wife, with whom he mates on New Years Day.

War, journey’s, architecture, and revenge.

The Shining One; Sun God; God of War; "Many Skilled"; "Fair-Haired One"; "White or Shining"; a hero god. His feast is Lughnassadh, a harvest festival. Associated with ravens. His symbol was a white stag in Wales. Son of Cian and Ethniu. Lugh had a magic spear and rod-sling. One of his magic hounds was obtained from the sons of Tuirenn as part of the blood-fine for killing his father Cian.

Considered the chief Lord of the Tuatha De Danaan, the Celtic Zeus. His archetype appears to derive from an early solar deity, and he has many epithets and sobriquets, among which: Lamhfhada, Long-arm, referring to his skill with spear or sling; Samildanach, much-skilled, having many talents; Ildanach, seer; and Maicnia, boy-warrior.

Some scholars believe he was originally a king of the Fomorians who was adopted by the Tuatha De Danann and then by the Celts. He sided with the Tuatha in the Second Battle of Tireadh (Moytura) and led their forces against the Formorians. It was here that he killed his grandfather Balor, a sacrificial God whom Lugh was destined to replace. Though he was a divine being, he was said to have an earthly father. Because of this association, he is seen as a bridge between human and the divine worlds.

Wisdom & Change.

Gwyddion was very wise, especially in music magick, and he once rescued Llew by singing an enchantment. He was referred to as master if illusion, a helper of humankind and a fighter against the greedy and small-minded. He supported the cultural arts and learning, and tried to stamp out ignorance. Because of all this praise., he is sometimes called the Druid of the Gods.

Cernunnos rules Nature, woodlands, forests, hunting, death, reincarnation, fertility, crossroads, sacrifice, magic, circles, cycles, initiation, wild animals, all horned animals, the underworld, the astral plane, and physical love. He is the patron of hunters and warriors. His titles include Lord of The Horned God of the Hunt, The Horned One, and The Horned God. Cernunnos, which is also spelled Kernunnos, is pronounced ëker-noo-nosí. He is also called Cernenus and Cernowain, and some authorities hold that he is the same god as Hu Gadarn, Herne, or Belatucadros. Animals, Lord of the Beasts, Stag Lord, Lord of the Hunt, Lord of the Forest, Lord of the Underworld, God of the Hunt,

The oak is the sacred tree of Cernunnos. His sacred animals include the stag, boar, ram, bull, snake, horned serpent, all horned animals, and all mammals. Honor him at Samhain, Ostara, Beltain, and at Midsummer, when he leads the Wild Hunt.

Known to the Druids as Hu Gadarn. God of the underworld and astral planes.

"The Horned One" is a Celtic god of fertility, life, animals, wealth, and the underworld. He was worshipped all over Gaul, and his cult spread into Britain as well. Herne is depicted with the antlers of a stag. The Horned God is born at the winter solstice, marries the goddess at Beltane, and dies at the summer solstice. He alternates with the goddess of the moon in ruling over life and death, continuing the cycle of death, rebirth and reincarnation.

God of communication and writing who invented the Ogham Alphabet and gave it to the Druids. He is sometimes thought of as the patron deity of poets. Writing was considered a very sacred and holy act by many early people including the Celts. It is for this reason that the Celts had a strong oral tradition, even among their magickal folk, as very little was believed safe to commit to paper.

Incense of Rhiannon

Rhiannon, Divine Queen, rules horses, death, the Earth, and the Otherworld. White Widow is her title, in some traditions. She is also known as Rigantona, Rig-ant-ona, or Rig Antona. Her titles were Great High Queen and Great Divine Queen.

All birds and horses are sacred to Rhiannon, but crows, ravens, and white horses, especially white mares, are particularly sacred to her. White is her color, and ivy is Rhiannonís sacred plant. The 4th of March is her feast day.

Incense of Taliesin

Prince of Song; Chief of the Bards of the West; a poet. Patron of Druids, Bards, and minstrels; a shape-shifter. Writing, poetry; wisdom; wizards; Bards; music; knowledge; magic.

A semi-mythical figure whose life has become deeply intertwined with the Divinities of the Celts. He apparently lived in the 6th century CE, and was regarded as the premier bard, or poet of his or any other time. A book of his work exists, set down in the 13th century; several of the works within it are regarded as genuine. He figures in many tales, but chief among them is the story that he began as the boy Gwion, was asked by the Cauldron-Crone Cerridwen to watch the vessel in which she brewed a Knowledge potion, inadvertently tasted it himself, was pursued by her in a chase involving many shapeshifts, and was at length swallowed by Her, to be reborn nine months later as the Divine bard Taliesin.

Horse goddess with fertility connotations. A popular equestrian goddess closely allied with the Celtic trade in, and domestic use of, horses. Concerned with healing, and with the fertility of domestic animals. The cult probably originated from Alesia in the heartland of Gallic resistance and location of Vercingetorix's final stand against Julius Caesar. She is arguably the only Celtic goddess to have been worshipped in Rome itself and her popularity was spread throughout the regions of Roman occupation (see also Morrigan). Her festival was celebrated on December 18th.

Epona is typically with mares and foals, usually riding sidesaddle or merely in association with horses. She also holds cornucopiae sheaves of grain and other fruits suggesting an ancillary role as a vegetation goddess. Epona is also, on occasion, linked with dogs and birds.

Epona was also a Goddess able to bestow sovereignty on Celtic kings, old rites existed marrying the kings to her. Jean Markdale, author of the superb work on Celtic Goddesses, "The Women of the Celts", believes she may have been the first mother Goddess of Celts, predating even Danu.

In Scotland she is referred to as Bubona, and in England Lady Godiva is thought to be another version. Carvings of Epona also appear in Germany, and the Anglo-Saxons may also have adopted her in the form of their horse Goddess, Horsa. Other horse-associated Goddesses such as Macha, Edain, Rhiannon, and Maeve may have grown out of her myths.

Sister of Bran the Blessed and wife of the Irish king Mathowch. Venus of the Northern Seas; one of the three matriarchs of Britain; Lady of the Lake (cauldron); Goddess of Love and Beauty. Welsh love goddess. In the Mabinogion, She is a central figure in being wed to the High King of Ireland and thereby encompassing the doom of both the Irish and Britons, when her brother Bran invades Ireland to rescue her from the degradation she experiences at the hands of a vengeful Court.
