The Fire Bird is the Phoenix, the bird which symbolises Immortality, Resurrection and Life After Death. It is said that only one Phoenix exists at a time and when it feels that it's death is near it builds a nest of aromatic woods and sets it on fire. The bird is consumed by the flames yet a new phoenix springs forth from the pyre. It embalms the ashes of it's predecessor in an egg of Myrrh and flies with it to Heliopolis 'City of the Sun' where the egg is deposited on the altar of the Sun God. The phoenix is said to regenerate when wounded or hurt, the ancient egyptins symbolised the phoenix as a heron.
