Pure Essential Oils have their own properties and effects. When properly used, the effects of the oils can be either stimulating or relaxing (depending on the oil(s) selected).

They can soothe and heal the mind, beautify the body & skin,  stimulate the senses or induce feelings of calmness. Some essential oils have a  variety of properties and often can be used to treat more than one ailment.

All our Pure essential Oils are available in amber glass bottles up to 250ml. and spun aluminium cannisters above this amount.

Fixative. Useful in skincare preparations especially for mature skin and wrinkles. Useful for lotions and perfumes. Antiseptic. Astringent.

Used in magick to help the onset of astral projection.

In aromatherapy it is beneficial to help conditions such as bronchitis, colds, coughs, cystitis, eczema, infected skin, inflamed skin, lymph drainage, mature skin, meditation,  promoting menstruation, psoriasis, rhinitis, swollen lymph glands, trauma,  wrinkles. A good substitute for the expensive Galbanum Oil.

Laural Leaf - Laurus nobilis

Historically, this plant was the symbol of victory to both the Greeks and the Romans who considered it the herb of protection. This is reflected in the oils ability to instil confidence and courage as well as improve memory and insight. Used in massage, it has an action on the digestive system.

Lavender - Lavendula angustifolia

The most versatile and useful oil, Lavender has an abundance of uses. Blends happily with many other oils.

It relaxes and soothes the mind & body, and is number one for use in first aid at home. Antiseptic / antibacterial. Can be used neat on wounds & burns but care should still be taken.

Used as an insect repellent, to scent linen and deter moths. Soothing. Neutralises insect bites and stings (bees, wasps, mosquitoes and nettlerash). Relaxing / calming. Can be useful for dandruff, when added to a base shampoo.

Added to a carrier oil it can be used in massage to help with PMT. Can be used as a massage, in a vaporiser, bath preparations, and on a pillow.

Lemon - Citrus medica limonum

Antiseptic / antibacterial astringent.

Good for brittle nails and greasy oily skin, insect bites, insect repellent, Refreshing & uplifting. Good for stimulating cellulite. When diluted can be used in hair rinses, skin toners and fresheners.

Excellent as a cleaning aid around the house to remove sticky, gluey deposits! (Not from polished wood!). Always test surfaces with a little first.

Lemon Verbena - Lippia citrodora

Relaxing, use 2-3 drops in a dispersant (eg: Bath and Shower Gel) in the bath. Good to use with lavender in the bath before bedtime.

Useful as a pick me up to vapourise after a hangover or use a few drops in the bath.

Lemongrass - Cymbopogon flexuosus

Lemongrass is a strengthening, uplifting, refreshing wake-up oil. Natural Insect repellent (fleas, ticks, lice).

Muscle ease, refreshes tired feet. Must be diluted well when applied to skin. Anti-microbial, antiseptic, anti-oxidant, deodorant, toning. Useful for cellulite.

Lignum Aloeswood - Bursera delpechiana

Lignum Aloeswood is virtually identical in aroma and therapeutic action as Rosewood, with a delightful floral/woody fragrance that blends well with other essential oils. Used in skincare to improve the complexion of dry or sensitive skin.

Lime - Citrus aurantifolia

A few drops of oil sniffed from a tissue can help with travel sickness.

A few drops of oil added to a bath dispersant (bath and shower gel,or carrier oil) will help uplift the spirits and energise.

Lovage - Levisticum officinale

Lovage is non-toxic and non-irritant but with possible sensitization in some individuals. Possibly phototoxic. Do not use if pregnant.

Lovage is used in aromatherapy for amenorrhoea, anaemia, congestion, cystitis, detoxifying, dysmenorrhoea, flatulence, gout, indigestion, oedema, poor circulation, rheumatism, spasm, water retention.

Mandarin - Citrus nobilis

Often used by pregnant women and the elderly, relaxing/calming, anti-fungal. Massage gently on tummy area for tummy upsets. Use 1-2% in carrier oil.

A few drops in bath at bedtime (nice with neroli) or used on aroma stream. Gentle action, nice to relax children - good for tantrums and when they’re over-excited. Oily skin - skin toner. Antiseptic.

Women may like to use on stretch marks: 1 drop lavender, 1 drop mandarin, 1 drop neroli to 10ml almond oil + 2mls wheatgerm oil (Rosehip oil may be used if you have a wheat Allergy). May be used daily.

Manuka - Leptospermum scoparium

A very powerful antiseptic oil which has been shown in clinical trials to have a more pronounced effect on the MRSA bacteria than Tea Tree oil. It has a more herbaceous aroma than Tea Tree and can be used to keep a wide range of bacteria at bay.

It is non-toxic and non-irritant but with possible sensitization in some individuals. Use for abrasions, abscesses, acne, athlete's foot, blisters, burns, cold sores, dandruff, head lice, insect bites, laundry antiseptic, nappy rash, scalds, vaginitis, veruccas, warts.

Belongs to the same family as Tea Tree; shares some properties.

Powerful antiseptic (used in hospitals in France as antiseptic in obstetrics and gynaecology). Cleans minor wounds. (5/6 drops of Niaouli in ½ pint (250mls) of boiled and cooled water).

Can be used for massage. A beneficial oil to use in chest rubs (not late at night as it is stimulating).Can be useful for oily skin and acne.

Neroli Light - Blended Essential Oils

Neroli Light is recovered from water distillation by a new process and then sharpened up with other natural citrus distillates to give a very good approximation of Neroli blossom essential oil, but at a much lower price. Used in perfumery.

Relaxing, aphrodisiac, helps to wind down. Bactericidal, fungicidal, deodorant, moisturising, stress reliever. Beneficial to the skin, stretch marks and mature skin especially. Rejuvenating. Useful for all skin types especially dry or sensitive skin.

Use with mandarin to help stretch marks. Blends well with floral oils especially rose and jasmine. Helps with PMT and the menopause, due to its calming quality . Helps with problems of emotional origin.

Nutmeg - Myristica fragrans

Great to vapourise with orange and clove, especially during winter nights.

Great for base notes in perfumes and an excellent fixative (sustains the perfume notes). It’s a type of lichen that grows on oak trees. Antiseptic.

Used in high-class perfumes and aftershaves.

Can be used as an inhalant, a few drops in water on a diffuser , or warm water poured over oil and inhaled with a towel over one’s head.

Orange, Sweet - Citrus aurantium

Origanum - Origanum vulgare

This essential oil is not recommended for use on the skin in Aromatherapy. The Russians utilise Origanum for sanitation purposes in hospitals. The Western world utilises Litsea cubeba (May Chang).

Palmarosa - Cymbopogon martinii

From same family as lemongrass, Palmarosa contains a high proportion of geraniol and has a perfume somewhere between Geranium and Rose. Useful for stressful situations, makes a lovely oil to use in massage and in the bath. Bactericidal, antiseptic, tonic.

Traditionally, it was used to adulterate Rose oil. Useful in skin preparations: face, hands, feet, neck and lips. Moisturises and hydrates the skin, rejuvenates, regulates sebum production. Good for teenage skin. Useful for wrinkles and tones up the skin on the neck.

Parsley Seed - Petroselinum sativum

Small perennial herb produces small brown seeds from which this oil is distilled. Antimicrobial, antiseptic. Mild stimulant, antioxidant.Muscle and joint ease. Can be used in massage during labour, but not recommended for pregnancy. Sometimes used commercially in gripe water.

Used in food flavourings. Used as a preservative in perfume.

Hot compresses over the bladder are comforting during bouts of cystitis, however medical help is recommended. Hot compresses may help with PMT and cellulite.
