Pure Essential Oils Ravensara - Ylang Ylang

Pure Essential Oils have their own properties and effects. When properly used, the effects of the oils can be either stimulating or relaxing (depending on the oil(s)  selected).

They can soothe and heal the mind, beautify the body & skin,  stimulate the senses or induce feelings of calmness. Some essential oils have a  variety of properties and often can be used to treat more than one ailment.

All our Pure essential Oils are available in amber glass bottles up to 250ml. and spun aluminium cannisters above this amount.

Ravina’ means leaf and ‘tsara’ means good. An extremely useful oil which has often been over looked. A very gentle oil ,excellent to use on a vaporiser and with a carrier oil for massage with the elderly and children. Muscle ease, strong anti-viral.

A must for the First aid cabinet. Useful during the winter – if feeling a little under the weather a few drops in the bath with Tea Tree and Lavender may help. Use in Massage, baths and inhalations.

Mentally and physically stimulating. Useful in stressful situations.

Rosemary - Rosmarinus officinalis

Stimulant, helps mental clarity and revive poor memory. Useful oil to smell during exams, and good for that Monday morning feeling.

A few drops in the bath are helpful after an illness as a pick-me-up and tonic. Muscle ease for tired, stiff and overworked muscles, odour is warm, penetrating and stimulating - great for after sports activities, especially when combined with Lavender and Marjoram.

Traditionally used in skin and hair care. Good toner. Rejuvenating to skin. Rinse for dark hair and hair in poor condition. Restores colour to dark hair and helps combat dandruff when the scalp is dry.Strong antiseptic. Can be used as an insect repellent especially for lice.

Rosewood - Aniba rosaevodora

Rosewood is a very safe oil, suitable for the most sensitive skins, and has a tonic effect on the body (always test a small area of skin first and use diluted).

Calming and steadying - good to use during exams or when driving.

 Useful for all skin types, ideal for mature skin. Rejuvenating, helpful for wrinkles & in anti-stretch mark creams,or to add to carrier oils. Useful for stress relief and has aphrodisiac properties. Antiseptic and bactericidal. Good deodorant. Ideal to use in bath preparations. A few drops added to bath water makes a nice treat.

Sage Dalmation - Salvia officinalis

Tonic, mental stimulant.

Useful as massage during the menopause and during female periods (all oils should be used well diluted).

ORAL TOXIN.   ABORTIFICANT. 

Do not use if pregnant or with high blood pressure.  Do not use if epileptic.  Do not use with high blood pressure. Clary Sage is a much safer alternative.

Sandalwood, Amyris - Amyris balsamifera

A cheaper substitute for Sandalwood Mysore. Useful to vaporise - can mix with Cedarwood and other woody oils on vaporiser.

Sandalwood Mysore is better suited for massage and bath essence.

Sandalwood (Mysore) - Santalum album

One of the most useful essential oils. Soluble in most fixed oils. Good fixative in blends, long lasting. Soothing properties - soothes dry skin and scalp, but also useful for oily skins due to astringent properties. Moisturises. Stress releasing. Warming oil. Relaxing/calming/balancing. Reputed aphrodisiac.

In India it is often combined with Rose oil to create Rose Attar (gives a good base note). Antiseptic. Bactericidal. Useful in teenage skin preparations, most useful in men’s preparations, in aftershave for example. Use to vaporise or add to bath preparation.

Scots Pine - Pinus sylvestris

Refreshing, invigorating, stimulating. Strengthening, Very popular in an Aromatherapy bath to revive tired muscles. Hair tonic. Disinfectant, deodorant.

Good air antiseptic & can be used as a steam inhalant to clear airways. Anti-viral, bactericidal.

Add a few drops to a diffuser; this is great to wake up and feel energized. Frequently used in room sprays, detergents, cough and cold preparations. To make your own room spray, combine 50ml of distilled water with about 10 drops of Essential Oil, add to a mister, shake well, and spray liberally.

Adding just 6 drops to a warm bath brings welcome stimulation to sore, stiff and overworked muscles. In order to prevent the oils from floating on the surface, blend the Essential Oil with some half fat cream, honey or vinegar before adding it to the water.

Spearmint - Mentha viridis

A perennial herb, the properties of Spearmint are similar to Peppermint, but its effects are less powerful.

Spearmint is better adapted to children’s maladies. Useful for tummy upsets (use to gently massage the abdomen diluted in carrier oil). Good for congested skin, teenage skin.

Often used by pregnant women and the elderly, relaxing/calming, anti-fungal. Massage gently on tummy area for tummy upsets. Use 1-2% in carrier oil. Oily skin - skin toner. Antiseptic.

Women may like to use on stretch marks :1 drop lavender, 1 drop mandarin, 1 drop neroli to 10ml almond oil + 2mls wheatgerm oil. May be used daily. (If the customer has a wheat allergy substitute wheatgerm with Vit E or Rosehip oil)

A few drops in bath at bedtime (nice with neroli) or used on aroma stream. Gentle action, nice to relax children - good for tantrums and when they’re over-excited.

Tarragon - Artemesia dracunculas

Use in moderation for amenorrhoea, anorexia, dysmenorrhoea, dyspepsia, flatulence, hiccups, intestinal spasm, nervous indigestion, PMT relief, sluggish digestion.

Tea Tree - Melaleuca alternifolia

Antiseptic. It’s 11 to 13 times as strong as carbolic acid. This oil has been extensively used by the Australian aboriginal people for centuries. Scientific research has found it effective against Bacteria, Fungi & Viruses. Good for the immune system (external application only).

Useful for dandruff, insect bites, oily skin.

Useful for use on animals diluted with a carrier oil.

Vaporise to help eliminate airborne bacteria and viruses. Parasiticide - was used in sheep dips.

Tea Tree, (Lemon Scented) - Leptospermum petersonii

Similar properties to Tea Tree oil, but has a wider bactericidal spectrum and fungicidal action when used in conjunction with Tea Tree. Some people may prefer the smell of Lemon Tea Tree.

Although the essential oil is not recommended for use in Aromatherapy it is utilised by chiropodists for the treatment of varucas. The best oil for the treatment of Warts.

To treat Warts: Put two drops on a plaster and place over affected area overnight.

TOXIC.  

Thuja oil contains thujone which is toxic and constitutes a neurotoxin which can lead to spasms, convulsions, diarrhoea and gastro-enteritis.

Valerian Root - Valeriana wallichii officinalis

A traditional nerve tonic. Stress releasing and relaxing, therefore good to use at night (external use only). Only one or two drops may be necessary to vapourise or massage with following oils in a carrier. Add petitgrain, orange or mandarin to improve the overpowering aroma. If the aroma is too much for some people spikenard is a good substitute.

Vetivert (khus khus) - Andropogon zizanioides

Known as the oil of tranquility.

Used extensively in perfumes, however the perfume is more pleasing when diluted. Useful as a fixative in oil mixtures. Beneficial use in skin care, especially for oily skin.

Muscle ease, tonic. Use in baths for stress release and soak in its amazingly relaxing aroma.

Yarrow (Blue) - Achillea millefolium

A small tropical tree whose name means ‘Flower of flowers’ Attractive fragrance used on its own. If used too strongly the perfume can be overbearing and cause headaches. Historically, it has been used for its intrinsic aphrodisiac properties.

Useful to use in stressful situations and in general skin care, particularly for oily skin. An appropriate oil to use in hair rinses, as it’s an excellent hair tonic.
